Can God restore a broken life?

Wendy Saxton's journey through childhood did not begin in a peaceful and secure environment. As far back as she can remember, if she wasn't creating some sense of security for herself, there was none.

At age thirteen, hoping to fit in, Wendy accepted a classmates' invitation to church. The small, family environment invoked feelings of security among authority figures--a first. Within weeks she accepted Christ as her Savior. Although her circumstances at home didn't change, Wendy for the first time experienced peace.

A year later, her sense of security and peace unraveled. Wendy, like many others, was deeply wounded in church. Too young to separate the actions of fallible man from the unfailing love of God, she resolved that she wanted no part of Christianity. She went back to being godless--where at least she knew what to expect. She vowed never again to speak to Jesus.

Twenty-three years later, Wendy was the poster-child for hopelessness. Wounded from years of sexual abuse and devastated by the choices she made in the aftermath, she was at last too weary to hate; too weak to point a finger. She broke her vow of silence and said the "J" word.

"Jesus . . . who are You? Never mind what I've been shown. I need You to show me who You are. And who was I supposed to be before thousands of unwanted touches?"

Peace washed over her. She was not alone. Wendy's prayer marked the beginning of a passionate relationship with Christ. Some days she studied the Bible, other days she threw it across the room, yet Jesus loved her the same.

Wendy learned valuable lessons as she healed. God never minimizes the circumstances that break our hearts. We do, when we deny Him access to the pain. She learned that heartbreaking circumstances couldn't overshadow the redeeming love of God, and in the midst of her journey she discovered how beautifully her hand fits in her Saviors. Wendy now carries her message of hope for women bound to perpetual heartache.

Wendy Saxton lives in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband, twelve-year-old son, and two very spoiled Labrador Retrievers. She also has two grown sons who are easily lured by home-cooked meals.

In 1991, at 20 years old, Natalie was a senior honor student at Baylor University, a talented musician, and a gifted motivational speaker. But then her life turned into a nightmare… in a matter of weeks, an undiagnosed illness suddenly progressed, taking her on a downward spiral. What began with a flu, fatigue, stiffness, and pain had progressed until she was confined for over seven years in a wheelchair, a bed, and then within her mind, as the infectious disease caused severe cognitive destruction.

“If I could only find enough pills to swallow – I wouldn’t have to do this anymore!”

There was little left that resembled the teenager who had begun the journey. Finally in 1996, a correct diagnosis was made – late-stage Lyme disease.

God’s grace carried Natalie through this ultimate test of her faith. His Word literally became her sustenance from day to day. As with Job, the Lord brought her through her trial with His love and grace.

“I would do it all again,” Natalie says, “because of how deeply I now know Christ!”

Even though she still has many recurring challenges, Natalie takes God’s grace to audiences across the country and around the world through TV and radio appearances, conferences and speaking engagements, proclaiming the truth and power of God’s life-changing Word.

Have you heard of the Jerri who went through an incredibly rough/difficult/horrendous stretch, learned more about God's devotion and love for her than she ever imagined, realized she is an amazing package, refuses to settle for "okay" when she knows she and her family will totally rock this, and smiles when her Marine friend tells her she would have been a heck of a marine. Yes, she's THAT Jerri.

Jerri is a young widow raising two children while writing, blogging, speaking, and holding hope…not only for herself and her family but for those in dark places, for those who wonder if they have done too much or not enough or have simply fallen too far, who look at the devastation and wonder if hope for something better is still an option for them. To those people, Jerri holds out her hand…and her own experiences of God rebuilding her life…and says with all assurance of hope, “Oh, precious one, God is still God. He still loves you, and in Him, there is ALWAYS hope.”

Married for almost 33 years to her high school sweetheart, Julie and her husband spend the first few minutes of every day together on their porch, talking and drinking coffee. They have three grown children, backyard chickens, outdoor parakeets, an adopted stray calico, and a yellow Lab name Clyde.

Who knew Bible study could be such fun? Join me with my guest, Deb Krum!

Deb Krum was told of God’s love by her mother and grandmother and her heart continually responded to Jesus. However, Deb’s junior high years began a journey of rebellion. She would reclaim her relationship with the Lord off and on during those wild years. But it wasn't until she reached her forties after a ten-year battle with severe depression that she settled down to live with Jesus as her Lord.

She then established GraceTapestries which is a teaching, encouragement and prayer ministry of Deb’s. The Lord continues to lead her to model and multiply a ministry of one to one mentoring and encouragement among the members of the body of Christ. Deb is committed to fostering and facilitating prayer movements in frontier and rural communities with a desire to encourage the Church to fervently seek God and to be devoted entirely to the leadership of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When I met Deb, I was immediately drawn to her love of God. Deb leads our Saturday morning prayer group and we also try to get together each week for what we call digging into God’s word. Whoever said Bible study is boring, has never had fun like I have with my friend, Deb Krum of Grace Tapestries.

Join me on this episode of Living Joyfully Free as we have a blast digging into God's word to discover hidden nuggets of wonderful truth.

A career editor, former business owner, mother, wife, and lover of God struck down with illness. Even though Barbie suffers from two fatal diseases, she continues to live joyfully free.

I met Barbie years ago through Shoutlife. We became online friends, prayer partners, and self-proclaimed couch buddies. (Our time on the proverbial couch referred to days when we were too ill to move.) However, Barbie is a praying, praising, amazingly joyful friend.

Listen in as Barbie shares her journey through illness for the last seventeen years, and yet has found grace to suffer gladly.
